I am a proud member of the Class of 1979 and an adjunct professor of tax
accounting at the A. B. Freeman School of Business. During my time as a
student, there were not many women in managerial positions in business
or accounting. The perception was that women could not have a full-time
career and raise a family. Yet, Freeman gave me the skills I needed to
excel in my 30-year career at LaPorte where I am currently the Director
of Consulting Services.
Over the last 12 years as a faculty member, I have in turn shared my
knowledge and real world experience with Freeman students – preparing
them for their future success. Personally, I am proud to say that four
of my past students presently work at LaPorte. I know first-hand that
Freeman empowers its students in the classroom, in the community, and in
I have been very fortunate and credit much of my success to the Freeman
School, therefore I enjoy giving back. Contributions to the Freeman
Annual Fund help provide scholarships and fellowships to deserving
students, seed money for special projects and initiatives, and ensure
world-class facilities and programming. These initiatives strengthen
the educational experience for Freeman students and the reputation of
Freeman both nationally and globally.
I hope you will consider giving
to Freeman this year to empower our students and secure Freeman’s
position as a leading business school. Please join me and make your gift
online by June 30th.
