 Student Communicator

General Position Description:

The Student Communicator reports to either the Student Calling Assistants, Calling Supervisor, and/or the Phonathon Coordinator.

The Student Communicator is critical to the success of the campaign as this job is two-fold: working for the University as a public relations officer and working as a fund raiser for the university.

The critical skills needed for success are as follows:
  • Excellent written, verbal and communication skills;
  • Outgoing, motivating personality;
  • Positive attitude;
  • At ease speaking with many people of various backgrounds;
  • Comfortable and confident asking people for money;
  • Knowledgeable of activities/events occurring at the university; and
  • Effective time management skills.

Specific Responsibilities

The Student Communicator will work a minimum of eight hours per week.

The hours run from 5:30 to 9:30pm Sunday-Thursday evenings.

The exact schedule will be determined prior to the first calling shift.

The Student Communicator will have specific duties which consist of telephoning university prospects (including alumni, friends and parents of current students) and raising money for the university.

He/she will also be required to keep honest and accurate records while completing and/or updating prospect information.

The Student Communicator conducts him/herself as part of a team striving to surpass the program’s projected processing rates, pledge rates, average pledge, and dollars raised.

They look upon their own performance as a challenge to attain the highest level of proficiency in yield per decision, average pledge, total decisions and pledge percentage.

In addition, the Student Communicator will also act, speak and dress in an appropriate manner.
