 Manager Information Resources

The role of the Manager, Information Resources is to provide leadership and project management expertise in the performance of work driven by user business needs.

This includes providing quality and timely business solutions that involve all stages of the Advancement System's development life cycle.

The Manager works with all departments and clients relating to Advancement Services in an effort to propose, test and implement business processes.

The incumbent is responsible for managing employee relation issues, including recruitment, training, and all disciplinary actions.

Working with all Advancement Services' departments, clients, user groups and ITS, the Manager develops and implements procedures and guidelines that lead our users towards adopting a "best practice" model.

University degree specializing in business processes or computer related field. Formal project management training an asset. Knowledge of report writing tools an asset. In depth understanding of relational databases, system reporting and data formatting and migration in a networked environment
  • Minimum of three to five years experience in business/IT analysis and computer report writing and data management; with at least one year of dedicated/direct project management experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of and work experience with Advancement Services/Fundraising practices.
  • Excellent knowledge and ability to use reporting tools and query applications, and experience training others in the use of these tools.
  • Experience in an office/results oriented service environment.
  • Supervisory experience at a management level. Demonstrated competence in application/data management, and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, detail oriented and ability to understand the needs of the end user.
  • A sound understanding of the University's mission statement, academic and administrative planning and decision-making processes, policies and procedures would be an asset.


  • Business analysis skills.
  • Strong ability to translate user needs into system requirements with demonstrated skill in presenting information in an effective and understandable manner. Knowledge of systems fundamentals and audit reporting, including the skills in diagnosing and resolving problems associated with the computer systems database.
  • Knowledge to create computer data files, systems data transfer, website refreshing and access for selected data for restricted distribution.
  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal communication and consensus building.
  • Excellent intuitive and empathic listening skills coupled with an ability to thoughtfully consider the perspective of both clients and colleagues.
  • Proven detail orientation and excellent customer service focus.
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to work independently and within a team atmosphere.
  • Strong leadership and team building skills, and ability to coach and motivate others.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
