Reporting to
the Assistant Vice President of University Relations, the Director of
Development Services directs all University gift, pledge and receipt
processing activities for the Campus.
This position maintains and supports database, gift processing and
prospect management needs for University Relations and provides
information needed to plan and execute annual and capital fund raising
programs.
Position
Specific Accountabilities
1.
Plan and direct all activities for BSR/Advance, UR’s relational
database. Actively participate in software upgrades to further support
the Advancement systems.
2. Plan, organize, and supervise the five person Development Services
staff to ensure that the daily activities, which include the processing,
receipting, depositing and reporting of all gifts and pledges to the
university, are being performed in a timely and efficient manner. Set
department work-flow priorities, as needed.
3. Oversee the gift accounting system, which provides the necessary
reports to the development staff and the Controller’s Office.
4. Consult
and assist development staff in devising database information and
reporting systems in support of their fund raising programs. Investigate
and provide solutions for meeting University Relations department
reporting needs and advise staff accordingly. Manage the production of
all the fund raising and management reports.
5.
Direct programming
support and segmentation to provide University Relations staff with
tools, reports and information required to plan and execute annual and
capital fund raising programs.
6.
Plan, implement and direct staff in providing monthly, fiscal year-end,
and special financial gift reports needed by the President’s staff,
University Relations and School Development staff, Trustees, Regents,
Controller’s Office, auditors, and reporting agencies such as the
Council Aid to Education.
7. Ensures
the data integrity of the Prospect Moves Management System, including
contact report, tasks, notes, proposals, assignments, stage, programs,
and associated moves.
8.
Assist frontline
fundraisers and senior development staff in achieving fundraising goals
by providing data that is consistent, as contacts and solicitations to
cultivated prospects are tracked and reported.
9.
Serve as primary liaison to ITS for University Relations and participate
with other enterprise partners on committees in order to plan major
events such as system installations, integration and upgrades.
10. Design
curriculum and execute a training program for users of the fundraising
applications.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree supplemented by
specialized technical training in computer programming logic, data
processing and retrieval methods, statistics and accounting.
Minimum 3 years experience with demonstrated success administering
Advance or a similar relational database where financial reports,
statistics and information management have been required, preferably in
an alumni/development environment.
Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills.
Strong working knowledge of development and accounting business
procedures and processes, a familiarity with Advance, SCT Banner or
similar Oracle networked database software, Structured Query Language
(SQL), Microsoft Office products, especially Excel in a P.C.
environment.
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated track record of meeting deadlines and the capacity to
supervise staff. Attention to detail is a must. Experience in
Development Services, higher education or related field is preferred. |
