 Assistant Director of Annual Giving

REPORTS TO: Director of Annual Giving

LOCATION: Annual Giving Office

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:

The Annual Giving Officer manages the phonathon program, the senior class gift program, the individual giving aspect of the matching gifts program, and works with director of annual giving and other associates within the development office to achieve increased levels of expendable annual support from alumni, parents, and friends of the college.

DUTIES:

Phonathon

1.1 Direct student phonathon and the follow-up processes including messages, timing/calendar of calling and target audience, and oversee pledge reminder systems

1.2 Organize and prepare materials; recruit, train, supervise, and motivate paid student callers and volunteer callers; provide analytical reports to track overall and individual caller progress to increase alumni, parent and friend donor participation rate and upgrade gift levels; address constituent concerns

1.3 Develop policies and procedures for handling all logistics related to the phonathon program

1.4   Provide back-up support for phonathon pledge data entry and pledge reminder mailings

Senior Gift Committee

2.1 Coordinate and manage the senior gift program, recruit committee members, facilitate meetings, conduct solicitation trainings, design solicitations and other communications, track progress, and motivate volunteers

2.2 In coordination with colleagues in the Alumni Relations Office, assist with the election of senior class officers, specifically the class agent position

2.3 Provide back-up support for data entry and mailings

Matching Gift Program

3.1 In coordination with colleagues in the Corporate, Foundation, and Sponsored Research Office, assist in planning, implementing and monitoring the matching gifts program which capitalizes on the potential to maximize the benefits of our donors working at matching gift companies

3.2 Work with colleagues in the Advancement Operations Office to provide analytical reports to specifically track the individual giving aspect of this program

3.3 Solicit individuals to ensure we are receiving a personal gift each year

Other Duties

Maintain appropriate records and prepare follow-up analyses and reports of solicitation efforts for these assigned fund-raising programs

Provide assistance, as appropriate, in developing computer systems to support these assigned fund-raising programs

Create a strategic plan and develop annual goals and objectives for these assigned fund-raising programs

Provide assistance and support in other duties as assigned by the director of annual giving

Actively participate in development and alumni relations activities as requested or required including, but not limited to, attendance at university functions and personal solicitation of donors

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Work with members of the Development Office staff, Alumni Relations staff, Public Affairs staff, alumni, parents, students, and friends of the university

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

1. Bachelorís degree with an appreciation for private, liberal arts, residential college

2. One to two years experience working in a telemarketing environment, ideally in an automated setting

3. Strong abilities in leading, managing, supervising and training students or other employees

4. Strong verbal and written communication skills

5. Strong organizational and planning skills for balancing multiple projects and tasks

6. Strong analytical and technical aptitude with an attention to detail

7. Working knowledge of computers and computer software programs

Note:  When phonathon is in operation (October through June) the position requires evening and weekend work (e.g. a schedule of 6:00-9:00 p.m. Sunday, 12:00-9:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Friday, and occasional Saturdays from 3:00-6:00 p.m.).

Regular hours (8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday) are worked during phonathon breaks.
