As a senior frontline fundraiser in the
University Development Office, the Associate Director solicits corporate
and foundation support.
Reporting to the Director of University Corporate and Foundation
Relations, the Associate Director will design and implement fundraising
plans to generate support for university-wide priorities as well as
assist the fundraising efforts.
- The Associate Director will
regularly meet with faculty, deans, senior administrators and
development colleagues to understand major priorities and goals and
to provide timely information on funding opportunities.
- S/he will maintain an aggressive
schedule of contacts with corporate and foundation representatives,
keep detailed records of solicitation activities, and interpret
corporate and foundation interests to university constituencies.
- The Associate Director will interact
with offices throughout the university to leverage diverse corporate
and foundation connections into coordinated university-wide
- S/he will monitor proposal
deadlines, prepare and edit proposals and manage proposal
- As needed, the Associate Director
will provide briefings for senior university administrators and
support their corporate and foundation outreach activities.
- The Associate Director will ensure
that stewardship and reporting requirements are met to sustain
successful corporate and foundation partnerships, and s/he will also
be expected to develop new relationships with institutional
prospects with a special emphasis on developing high value-exchange
- The Associate Director will also
take ownership for special projects as needed to advance the mission
and effectiveness of the Corporate and Foundation Relations effort.
- Bachelor's degree required. Advanced
degree desired, particularly in areas of business, science or

experience at a corporation, foundation, major research university,
hospital or related organization required.
- Disciplined self-starter who
regularly sets and achieves work goals.
- Scientific literacy is highly
desired as is experience in high-end corporate fundraising.
- Excellent verbal and written
communication skills required, as are excellent interpersonal
- Ability to work well in a small team
environment is essential.
- Knowledge of the
biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry and the philanthropic
interests of major foundations are a plus, as is experience in
proposal writing and development research.
- Must be willing to travel and work
