 Assistant Director of Annual Giving

Experience:

Bachelor's Degree required. At least two years experience in development/advancement, preferably in higher education. At least one year experience with phonathons.

Requirements:
  • Understanding of phonathon strategies and concepts.
  • Familiarity with fundraising software and ability to use computer technology to increase effectiveness.
  • Experience with MS Word and Excel.
  • Effective communicator who can articulate Kutztown University's mission and priorities and represent the University with tact and diplomacy.
  • Self starter: demonstrates initiative and entrepreneurial thinking.
  • Comfortable working as a team member.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • While not a requirement, candidates with experience using Raiser's Edge and CampusCALL will have a clear advantage.

Position description:

The assistant director of annual giving will report to the assistant vice president for development and be responsible to

  • Actively participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Kutztown University Foundation Development Office's annual and long-range plans.
  • Plan, conduct, analyze and evaluate the annual phonathon program so that annual fundraising goals are met.
  • Database segmentation.
  • Script development.
  • Caller selection, training, motivation, evaluation and, if need be, termination.
  • Plan, conduct, analyze and evaluate a direct mail program to solicit prospects not contacted through the phonathon.
  • Plan, conduct, analyze and evaluate an annual donor recognition event.
  • Monitor financial resources committed to assigned projects.
  • Other duties which may from time to time be assigned.

Hours:

The phonathon runs from late-September to mid-December and from late January to early-May. During that time the assistant director of annual giving will work at least the following hours:

Sunday        5:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
Monday        8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Tuesday      12:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
Wednesday    12:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
Thursday     12:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.

During the rest of the year, the position will work the standard week. Additional hours and weekend time may be required from time to time.
